Dominic Butler Writes

It was always writing. I loved to read. I loved to watch films. I even loved to act for a while. But writing was what I always came back to. Perhaps it started with the one-line story prompts my grandmother used to give to me and my brothers, or the primary school writing competition that I was lucky enough to win, or the fact that in writing I could express all of the things I struggled to say. Whatever the reason, it was always writing. So, after studying film and literature at university, I qualified as a language teacher, and I lived abroad for fifteen years, all the time working on my novels and short stories. Then, while living in Italy, I was approached by a publisher and asked to write my first graded reader. From there, it's been fiction for language learners, writing for kids, grammar books, poetry and creative writing courses, and doing my best to spread my love of literacy.
